Missions and Ministry Center

Many years ago the vision, of what then was referred to as the Area Office, began to surface.  At that time a committee was formed called "The North Central Area Baptist Committee".  This group adopted a constitution and by-laws and was incorporated.  Its membership is comprised of the moderator, vice-moderator, clerk (or clerk/treasurer) and one member at-large from each of the three associations (Jackson, Shady Grove, and Winn Baptist Association).  This committee was given the task of promoting and planning such a building project.

In 1997, two members of a Jackson Baptist Association church donated an acre of prime land for the construction of the building on Bond Street in Jonesboro.  This couple stipulated in the deed that the property would revert back to the owners or heirs after a five year period if no construction of a building was begun.

Many years later, that vision became a reality and the scope of its vision has enlarged.  No longer was this project being seen as simply an office but rather a center for missions and ministries.  Thus, the name and concept enlarged to the "Missions and Ministry Center".

On July 12, 2001, the committee and many of the pastors met for the purpose of solidifying our resolve toward this project and to consider floor plans.  The Missions Builder Coordinator for the Louisiana Baptist Convention was on hand to explain different aspects of the project and to present floor plans.  Those present felt the North Central Area Baptist Committee should meet again in the near future and finalize the plans for presentation of the project to each of our three associations in their 2000-2001 Annual Meetings.  A floor plan was approved during this meeting.

On August 13, 2001, at the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church (Shady Grove Baptist Association), the committee met again.  After some discussion, a motion was made and passed unanimously to present the project to each association in the fall at their annual meetings.  Several other decisions were made in this meeting.  One was to begin contruction sometime around August of 2002.  In addition, the committee voted that the motion presented to the associations would be a vote to "participate" in the cooperate building of the facility in Jonesboro on the afore mentioned property.
