NEWS FROM THE CHURCHES:

-Churches without pastors (9):  Mill Creek (SGA), Harmony Grove, (SGA), Lakeside (WBA), Dodson-FBC (WBA), Crews New Salem (WBA), Yankee Springs (WBA), Atlanta (WBA), Shady Grove (SGA) and Zion Hill (WBA).

-Zion Hill (WBA):  Brother Bill Wagoner has resigned as pastor of Zion Hill.  Brother Deloy Shows is the interim.

SHADY GROVE REVIVAL:  The Shady Grove Associational Revival is Monday, August 2 through Saturday, August 7, 7 PM each night.  Monday and Tuesday night at the Welcome Home Baptist Church, Wednesday and Thursday at the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church and then Friday and Saturday at the Corinth Baptist Church.  Brother Craig James will be the evangelist.  Everyone is invited to attend.

CHOIR FESTIVAL:  The Jackson Baptist Association is having their 2010 Choir Festival on Friday, September 10, 7 PM, Hodge Baptist Church.  Call Tom Williams at 259-8891 to register your choir.  He would like to take this opportunity to invite the churches of Shady Grove and Winn to also come and listen to this wonderful time of inspiration.

WINN CORRECTIONAL CENTER REVIVAL:  The 13th Annual Winn Correctional Center Prison Revival is scheduled for September 23-25.  Make plans now for your men to attend the Saturday, September 25 Witnessing Blitz and services.  Pastors are always the key to promoting events like this.

"HUNTERS AND ANGLERS" AREA WIDE EVANGELISTIC EVENT:  Chuck LaCroix (646-9407), event coordinator, request that all pastors encourage your people to call and get involved as a volunteer.  There are still numerous spots for people to work.  Ladies, we need you to help and attend the meetings.

     Here are some of the personalities involved; Jerry Hester and the Martin Quartet (owner of Quality Ford in Coushatta), James Hester ("Hook-M-Up/Track-M-Down Radio Show), Colin Booth (World Champion Archery Shooter and Matthews Archery Representative), Eugene Morris (Youth Director for the Bass Federation) and Jack Hanes (Winner of the BASS Masters Classis).

     Booths on display by "On Time Feeders", Wild Turkey Federation, Matthews Archery, and other vendors.

     Pastors, this is very important, we need your help in several areas:

     -Publicity:  Please publicize this at every opportunity you have. Get your Sunday School classes to begin announcing and praying for the event. 

     -Tickets:  Call this office to see if there are tickets still available.  We are limited to 400 people who can participate. Remember, you have to have a ticket to get in!!

     -Door Prizes:  We still can use more Door Prizes.  Let this office know if you can help.  The Missions and Ministry Center will be the collection point for these items.  Ask your Sunday School class to help purchase items such as Door Prizes.  It can be Gift Cards to Wal-Mart, Nichols, a hardware store, hunting clothes store (like Simon's, etc.)  See if your church would want to make a donation to help buy prizes.

     -Workers:  If you have people who are willing to work, call this office.  We need people to serve on groups like:  cooking, clean up and take down, door prizes, decorations, follow up, serving of tables and door prizes.  Pastors, set the example and volunteer.

     -Counselors:  Call this office if you have people who are interested in being counselors.

      Pastors, we need your support in this effort!

YOUTH MINISTER/YOUTH LEADERS - "2010 Youth Explosion":  (Do you need posters for this event?  The Missions and Ministry Center has a few and you are welcome to get some.  Every church needs to have some of these posters placed around in their church).  The 2010 Youth Explosion, sponsored  by Jackson, Winn, and Shady Grove Associations is planned for August 8-11 at Jonesboro-Hodge High School Auditorium.  Services will be from 6:30-9:00 PM each night.  Our theme is "Ultimate Reality" and our focal passage is John 14:6.  Our speaker is Wade Morris, Aaron Ivey will be leading us in Worship, and Drew Worsham will amaze us with his unbelievabe illusions.  In the next several months you will receive several postcards and a color booklet promoting this event.  We have a page on Facebook called Youth Explosion 2010 and a website has been set up at www.youthexplosion2010.com

If you are interested in helping with the planning and details to make Youth Explosion 2010 a huge success, please contact Clay Smith, Youth Minister, at FBC Jonesboro at 259-4467 or 259-6835.

There will also be a Counselor Training meeting, Thursday, July 29, 6 PM.  A meal will be provided.  RSVP by July to 259-4467.

There will be a Youth Ministers Fellowship, Monday, August 9, 11 AM until 1 PM, at FBC Jonesboro.  A meal will be provided so RSVP by August 2 at 259-4467.

This will be the largest youth event we have ever put together in our area.  Please help invest your time and efforts in reaching teenagers for Christ in North Louisiana.

SOUTH DAKOTA MISSION TRIP MEETING:   The Mission Trip dates are August 6-14.  We will leave on Friday, August 6 and return on Saturday, August 14.  This will include the work in Sioux Falls and the Sturgis Bike Rally.  You can sign up for either one.  If you are interested in being a part of the Sturgis Bike Rally Witnessing aspect of the trip, please give this office a call as soon as possible.

     Consider a contribution to assist our Missionary Couple from this area which are there in South Dakota assisting with the work there.  If you are interested in information, call Brother Randy Lee at Ebenezer. 

LCIW:  The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women Gift Box Distribution and Annual Revival is October 1-3.  If you are interested in providing items for the Gift Boxes or participating in the revival, please call the Women's Missions and Ministry Department of the LBC at 1-800-622-6549.

AUGUST 1:  We are asking the churches of the three associations to take Sunday, August 1 as a Day of Prayer for all the upcoming events:  Youth Explosion 2010,  South Dakota Mission Trip, Hunters and Anglers Rally, Shady Grove Associational Revival and the Winn Correctional Center Prison Revival.

     Do not forget to take up a Love Offering to offset the"Youth Explosion 2010" on this date also.

MINISTRY TRAILER:  The Ministry Trailer Committee is asking for six men to serve on a list of people who can help when a church wishes to use the trailer.  These men must have a truck with electric brakes, be willing to be trained on how to use the equipment, take the trailer to the church, oversee the erection of the equipment, and oversee the packing of the equipment back in the trailer and returning it to this office.  These men will be compensated.  Call this office with your names.

SGA ASSOCIATION MEETING:  SGA will be having their "Prayer Coordinator Meeting" at the Big Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, July 29.

EFFECTIVELY PRAYING FOR THE LOST:  LBC President, Rod Masteller and Dr. Bill Robertson of the LBC invite all pastors to join them on August 9, 10 AM  until 3 PM at the Summer Grove Baptist Church for a day of prayer.  Lee Thomas, author of "Effectively Praying for the Lost" will be the guest speaker.  Lunch will be provided.

CHURCH WMU LEADERSHIP TRAINING:  "Unhindered!"  the 2010 WMU Leader Training event is August 14,  Parkview Baptist Church, Alexandria.

PEWS:  Mr. Tommy Straughan of the Straughan Real Estate has a number of pews available for purchase.  If interested, call him.

FIXING YOUR CHURCHES FINANCES:  This office now has for check out, "Fixing Your Churches Finances."

VBS REPORT:  Make sure you turn in your VBS report as quickly as your event is over.  You can mail them to this office.

FUTURE DATES: 

    *Monday, December 6, is the Staff and Wives Christmas Fellowship.  This year it will be held at the McDonald Memorial Baptist Church.

    *The 13th Annual Prison Revival is September 23-25.

SCHOOL UNIFORM ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  The Jackson Parish Coalition of Christian Churches is sponsoring the School Uniform Assistance Program.  Lane Plunkett, Chairman for the 2010 drive says the provision of uniforms to assist families gives Christians an opportunity to witness to not only the children but the parents.  Consider your Sunday School class sponsoring a child with either $20.00 for one uniform, $40.00 for two and $48.00 for two uniforms and one belt.  You can send contributions to "JPCCC", 310 Seymore Road, Jonesboro, LA  71251.  Make all checks payable to "JPCCC".
